Cookie had her first birthday this week. We celebrated with kibble and new squeaky toys. It's hard to believe she's already been with us so long - it seems like just a couple of weeks ago that we met her. And she is still very much the same, with her love of kisses and racquetballs, but now she's bigger and we don't have all those stinky messes to clean up. Such a good girl! When I realized that she's now probably about as big as she'll ever be, I decided it was time for her first sweater. What better way to celebrate than by embarrassing her completely?

I couldn't be happier with the finished project! Though she looks fully ashamed in this photo, she is still happily wearing it around the house, teasing the kids with her new toys. I thought she would fight, but she honestly doesn't seem to even notice it.
It was a really nice knit as well - the colorwork was lots of fun, though there is a bit where you have to work the stranded knitting back and forth, which is a bit fussy. Regardless, it was small enough to be quick and the results are very satisfying. It could probably use a good blocking, but I was so excited to try it on her that I skipped it for now.
For a little added doggy goodness (and my own selfish desires), I want to share Steven's post about the gorgeous shawl that he is giving away to a lucky reader. His adorable pup, Mo, is posing with the knitted goodness. Give his blog a read - his words are beautifully poetic, and sometimes, there are hot pants.
